More and more amazing shots are being taken from our new, floating photo hide. The Black tern flock by Stefan Oscarsson or the White-tailed eagle and Little gull by Jan Pedersen. Or Daniel Pettersson´s portraits of Black Terns.

The dragonfly season has at least started a bit up here in the cold north. Yesterday I found Yellow-spotted Whiteface on a new site but didn´t get any good pics (just semi-blurr) of the only male I saw. However plenty of Black-tailed Skimmers and 4-spot Chasers. No Hawkers yet on this excellent Hawker site! I saw a Hairy Hawker take a Brilliant Emerald the other day on the same island though. Pictures above!

Sweden´s 2.nd Great Knot (Calidris tenuirostris) caused a megatwitch at Hjälstaviken where it showed for a good part of the afternoon and evening. Hundreds of bird enthusiasts took the chance to see it.

Must come back to my blogging now when the most intense guiding season is over. To start with we had a great Upland´s trip with a lovely bunch of 17 brits through Naturetrek. Have a look at the pix and you see what I mean.

Stumbled upon another Great Grey Owl on a new site yesterday. They are certainly on the move this year. Even some Hawk Owls seen here in the south/ central Sweden.

Great Grey Owl rescue

A Great Grey Owl was taken into care and brought to the pet hospital at Strömsholm yesterday. Today we brought it to Leif Sandgren at the Bird emergency in Örebro where it will be fed and hopefully recover in a couple of weeks. The Bird emergency (fågelakuten) just received a starving Hawk Owl  found in the city of Örebro. The 3:rd hawk Owl recently reported from central Sweden. It´s really unusual that northern owls like Hawk Owls start to appear in the south this time of the year. This is most likely due to lack of food in the north.

Great Grey Owl bonanza!

The Sundsvall area is still a mega area for Great Grey Owl. this weekend we saw at least 12 individuals on 15 occasions.
