As we reach the very sumit we almost immediately encounter one of the most rare and desired Butterflies of the region; Arctic Fritillary ( Boloria polaris). Known to be quite eluding and hyperactive, these (3+) specimen surprise us by sitting very still and even walking between the flowers they feed on. Perhaps a result of the rather low morning temperature and a bit of cold wind.
